Rackspace
opens London data center

June 21, 2000 -- Rackspace opened its London data center
today, expanding to meet the needs of its growing overseas customer
base.
The
provider
of Linux-based managed Internet hosting services also an agreement
to provide managed hosting services to AboveNet Communications
customers.
Rackspace
said that with approximately 45 percent of its business customers
based outside the United States, the need for a data center in
Europe has become pressing. The new data center is located in
the Docklands area of London.
"`We
are experiencing great demand for managed hosting services, and
many of our customers outside the U.S. have requested we open
a data center in Europe,'' said Graham Weston, chief executive
officer of Rackspace. "Having a presence in London represents
a significant opportunity for us.''
Rackspace.com provides its services under monthly subscriptions
to Web developers, e-businesses and application service providers
with a Web hosting budget between $200 and $10,000 a month.
