August 21, 2000 -- Zama Networks, Inc., a rapidly growing
provider of Internet infrastructure, today announced the opening
of its new worldwide headquarters building and state-of-the-art
Internet Data Fort facility in Seattle.
Zama's Internet Data Fort is a 56,000 square foot building located
in the new International Gateway Complex, an advanced telecom
campus south of downtown Seattle at the convergence of six different
existing optical fiber routes.
The
center's four floors house Zama's administrative offices, network
operation center, and data center co-location space for customer
networking equipment.
Constructed as the first concrete step in deploying Zama Networks'
next-generation Internet backbone planned for North America and
Asia, the Internet Data Fort will serve as the nerve center for
companies that co-locate their network servers, routers, and switchgear
in the data center.
Zama Networks is an Internet infrastructure and services
company focused on building and operating a next-generation Internet
backbone network using owned hubs and nodes connected by leased
transport links.
"We
have designed our Data Fort to provide better-than-carrier quality,"'
said Dennis Okamoto, CEO of Zama Networks. "Our demands for
reliability and security for the Zama IP backbone drove us to
build the most robust network operating center possible. By including
space specifically designed for co-location services, our customers
will be able to benefit from these high standards also.''
The building has been custom designed to current seismic zone
standards and is 1.5 miles from the nearest LEC central office
with ready access to multiple LEC tandem offices. It has redundant
48v DC and 120v AC with battery backup and twin 2,000KVA diesel
generators.
Zama is based in Seattle, Washington
and was incorporated in 1998. The company will initially concentrate
on markets in the Asia-Pacific region and North America, serving
cross-border traffic. Ultimately, Zama hopes to extend its network
to Europe and other key markets in the world as demand develops
for Zama's broadband network capabilities.
