CarrierHotels News Staff

August 3, 2000 -- Switch & Data Facilities Co., a leading operator of carrier-neutral, telco-grade shared infrastructure facilities, announced today the appointment of Ray Joseph to the new post of vice president, site acquisition.
Joseph joins Switch & Data Facilities Co. from Genuity's (formerly GTE Internetworking) Global Network Infrastructure (GNI) group, where he created GNI's site development process. He directed all processes for site selection, acquisition, negotiation of contracts, land use permitting/zoning, conceptual facility design and construction management for 70 of GTE's OC-192 fiber based network facilities ranging in size from 500 to 150,000 square feet.
Prior to Genuity, he developed sites for AT&T, Alltel, Omnipoint Communications, Pacific Bell's PCS Network and Nextel Communications. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New York at Buffalo.
"With Ray's experience we will accelerate our site acquisitions both domestically and internationally,'' said Stephen B. Kelly, CEO, S&DFC. "We've opened 20 carrier-neutral collocation sites since our inception in 1997 and will another 20 by year end."
