to Head Site Acquisition for SDFC

August 3, 2000 -- Switch & Data Facilities Co., a leading
operator of carrier-neutral, telco-grade shared infrastructure
facilities, announced today the appointment of Ray Joseph to the
new post of vice president, site acquisition.
Joseph
joins Switch & Data Facilities Co.
from Genuity's (formerly GTE Internetworking) Global Network Infrastructure
(GNI) group, where he created GNI's site development process.
He directed all processes for site selection, acquisition, negotiation
of contracts, land use permitting/zoning, conceptual facility
design and construction management for 70 of GTE's OC-192 fiber
based network facilities ranging in size from 500 to 150,000 square
feet.
Prior to Genuity, he developed sites for AT&T, Alltel, Omnipoint
Communications, Pacific Bell's PCS Network and Nextel Communications.
He received his bachelor's degree from the University of New York
at Buffalo.
"With Ray's experience we will accelerate our site acquisitions
both domestically and internationally,'' said Stephen B. Kelly,
CEO, S&DFC. "We've opened 20 carrier-neutral collocation
sites since our inception in 1997 and will another 20 by year
end."
