LayerOne
Expands Network to Houston
CarrierHotels News Staff
August 9, 2000 -- Colocation provider LayerOne, Inc. today
announced the expansion of its NEXUS colocation network with a
10,000-square-foot lease in one of Houston's premier carrier hotels.
The
site at 1001 Texas is expected to be operational by year-end,
and will provide telecommunication carriers a platform to exchange
both short- and long-haul traffic, plus provide on-net colocation
space for their end customers.
LayerOne currently has NEXUS facilities operational in Chicago
and Miami, eight under construction, and, with the addition of
Houston, two leased facilities.
"Expanding
our NEXUS network throughout the nation's top telco hotels will
level the playing field for communication service providers,''
said LayerOne chief executive Alexander Muse. "Any carrier,
regardless of size, can now quickly establish a point of presence
in a key market like Houston by using our NEXUS facility. And
they can use our neutral space to their best advantage, leveraging
our services to exchange traffic or provide a complete colocation
solution for their end customers.''
LayerOne,
Inc. is a privately held company building a global network
of carrier-grade neutral colocation facilities. The Dallas-based
firm says it plans to maintain an aggressive build out over the
next three years.
