Opens Fifth Center in Silicon Valley
Expanding network now has 2.2 million square feet worldwide

August 9, 2000 -- Exodus Communications, a leader in Internet
hosting and managed services, today opened its fifth Internet
Data Center (IDC) in the Silicon Valley, Calif. metropolitan area.
This
new building is part of the continued expansion of Exodus' network
in major metropolitan areas to support growing demand for complex
Internet hosting. With the opening of the new facility, Exodus
now has approximately 2.2 million gross square feet of data center
space worldwide.
"We have aggressively expanded our IDC network in the Silicon
Valley to meet the growing market demand in this region,'' said
Ellen M. Hancock, Exodus' chairman and chief executive.
The
new facility is Exodus' fifth in Silicon Valley, bringing the
total square footage occupied by the company's IDCs to more than
310,000 gross square feet in the Silicon Valley area alone.
By the end of this year, Exodus said it plans to have 36 sites
in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific open or under construction,
representing a total of more than 3.9 million gross square feet
of IDC space.
In the
second quarter of 2000, Exodus
added 503 new IDC customers, bringing its total to more than 3,300
companies worldwide.
