Aug. 31, 2000 -- 360networks, an international provider
of broadband services, will soon be monitoring its global fiber
optic network from a new state-of-the-art network management center
in Denver.
The company
said it expects to complete Mountain View 2, the 95,000 square-foot
center that will serve as the heart of 360networks' 77,900-mile
global network, in mid-2002. When completed, the facility will
provide broadband connectivity to more than 100 major cities in
North America, Europe, Asia and South America.
With
the shell of the building almost finished, 360networks and a contractor
will begin implementing communication and monitoring systems on
September 1. 360networks is investing more than $6 million on
tenant improvements and equipment, including fully protected,
global network monitoring equipment and a video conferencing room.
"Our
new network management center will provide 24-7 monitoring of
360networks' global network with a full generator backup and uninterrupted
power supply,'' said Dave Love, senior vice-president of network
operations. ``It will ensure seamless, global optical services
throughout our system, and timely upgrades to all areas on our
scaleable optical mesh network.''
Mountain
View 2 will be ready to accommodate more than 400 employees by
December 1. 360networks employs 200 people in Denver - up from
just 38 one year ago - and expects that number to double in the
next year.
360networks
offers broadband network and colocation services to telecommunications
and data communications companies.
