Terremark to Partner on Miami NAP

Sept. 7, 2000 -- Telcordia Technologies, Inc. and Terremark
Worldwide, Inc. today announced they have agreed to jointly design
and operate a tier-one network access point which will be called
NAP of the Americas.
The
NAP will be housed in the Technology Center of the Americas (TECOTA),
which is currently under construction in downtown Miami. Telcordia,
a wholly owned subsidiary of SAIC, will operate the NAP while
Terremark's T-Rex subsidiary develops the physical facility.
In
a joint announcement, the two companies said the NAP of the Americas
will be only the fifth tier-one NAP in the U.S. and the first
such facility designed specifically to provide enhanced connectivity
for all of the Americas.Today, there are no tier-one NAP's anywhere
in Latin America.
"We
plan to work with Terremark to develop a state-of-the-art NAP
of the Americas that will revolutionize Internet hubs in the U.S.,''
said Rick Cabrera, Vice President of Telcordia, Caribbean and
Latin America.

venture will expedite the future transfer of technology and close
the gap between North America and high-growth Telecom markets
such as Latin America and Asia,'' said Manuel D. Medina, Chairman
