LayerOne Leases Space in Atlanta Carrier Hotel

By Rich Miller
CarrierHotels News Staff

Sept. 25 -- LayerOne, Inc.today announced the expansion of its NEXUS network with a 16,500 sq. ft. lease within one of the most highly connected carrier hotels in Atlanta.
The Atlanta NEXUS facility, located at The Inforum, 250 Williams St., will be operational early in the first quarter of 2001. The LayerOne NEXUS offers carriers entrance to multiple backbone networks for the efficient exchange of short- and long-haul traffic, plus provides premium colocation space for their end customers.
LayerOne is operating NEXUS facilities in Chicago and Miami, has an additional eight under construction and four, including the Atlanta site, leased.
"Atlanta is a strategic market for fiber optic networks,'' said LayerOne CEO Alexander Muse. "It ranks as one of the top five in the country in terms of the number of providers and the amount of fiber in the ground. Our NEXUS facility provides a connectivity hub that is a godsend for carriers completing a network or trying to sell bandwidth in a highly connected building like The Inforum.''
LayerOne, Inc., which derives its name from the primary layer of the Open Systems Interconnection model that defines connectivity standards, is a privately held company building a global network of layer one exchange facilities.
