IBM, Equinix Team Up In 4 Metro Areas

CarrierHotels News Staff

Sept. 19, 2000 -- IBM will offer its Web hosting services in Equinix neutral Internet Business Exchange centers in four major metropolitan regions including the Silicon Valley, Washington, D.C., and New York areas, the two companies said today.
. As part of the multi-year, $90 million agreement, IBM will establish new IBM e-Business Hosting Centers in Equinix IBX centers to accommodate growing demand for Web hosting services.
In addition to serving its own customers, IBM Global Services will also offer other IBX tenants services to help them improve the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of their information technology operations
"IBM chose Equinix IBX centers for its Web hosting needs because we provide a unique combination of benefits that helps the company better serve its customers,'' said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "Our broad choice of Internet companies in each IBX center allows IBM to offer its customers greater service options which can be deployed faster. In addition, the quality of our centers meets IBM's stringent standards.''
Equinix designs, builds and operates neutral IBX centers (Internet Business Exchange(TM) centers) which provide e-commerce companies, content providers and ASPs with the power to choose from a wide variety of Internet partners.
