Sept. 20, 2000 -- ColoConnection, a subsidiary of Terremark
Worldwide, Inc. today announced it has leased a carrier-neutral
colocation site in Silicon Valley.
Located in Santa Clara, Ca., the 45,000 square foot facility is
the company's first deployment since ColoConnection was established
in June 2000, and will be operational in early 2001.
ColoConnection has signed a 20-year lease on the property, which
has the heavy fiber optics and bandwidth connection that the company
believes is ideal for long-haul carriers and Internet providers
throughout the region. The site will contain more than 1,800 racks
available for telecom components for area ASPs, ISPs, CLECs, and
other users.
ColoConnection, a carrier-neutral colocation provider, said it
is "actively identifying" colocation space and is currently
in negotiation for other sites.
"With
Silicon Valley being at the heart of the New Economy, this acquisition
gives Terremark a crucial co-location presence in that region,''
said Wayne Allen, President of ColoConnection. "Terremark's
infrastructure expertise will provide a competitive advantage
to rapidly build and develop these facilities to help meet the
growing demand for co-location space in the U.S.''
