Oct. 16, 2000 -- LayerOne, Inc. today launched its flagship
site in the Univision Building, a carrier hotel at 2323 Bryan
St. in Dallas.
LayerOne
said its NEXUS Optical Distribution Exchange will initially occupy
17,000 square feet in this premier telco hotel, which the company
said houses more telecommunications tenants than all other Dallas
telco hotels combined.
The launch of the Dallas NEXUS Exchange brings the number
of LayerOne facilities currently in operation to three, including
NEXUS Exchanges in Chicago and Miami. Another 12 sites are under
construction.
LayerOne speeds network scalability and profitability by bringing
buyers and sellers together under one roof and streamlining the
entire interconnection process.
"Our NEXUS Exchanges literally change the way carriers connect
with one another,'' said Alexander Muse, LayerOne's chief executive
officer. ``Until now, no one has offered carriers a standardized
way to interconnect with other service providers in top markets."
In
Dallas, more than 100 service providers are already located at
2323 Bryan and dozens more want entrance so they can exchange
traffic and sell products and services, Muse said.
LayerOne, Inc., which derives its name from the primary layer
of the Open Systems Interconnection model that defines connectivity
standards, is a privately held company building a global network
of layer one transport exchange facilities strategically located
at the crossroads of the world's largest fiber networks.
