Oct. 25, 2000 -- FirstWorld, a provider of outsourced Web
and application hosting solutions, today opened its latest Internet
Data Center (IDC) in Houston, Texas.
With
approximately 27,000 gross square feet, the new IDC is part of
the expansion of FirstWorld's network in metropolitan areas to
meet the demand for complex Web and application hosting.
The Houston opening expands FirstWorld's network of data centers
to 10, with a total gross square footage of nearly 245,000 square
feet. The company has facilities in Dallas, Colorado, Oregon,
California and Utah.
"Houston
is one of the largest cities in the country, and one that is taking
a strong position in the growth of the technology economy,'' said
David Gandini, COO of FirstWorld. "We believe that this data
center represents not only an investment in Houston's technology
infrastructure, but, it also represents an opportunity for Houston's
business community to focus on business growth, rather than on
complex technology issues that may be outside of their realm of
expertise.''
On Nov. 1, Congressman Gene Greene will officially open FirstWorld's
Houston IDC during an open house from 1-7 pm CST.
