Sprint
Opens Denver Center
New 150,000 square foot facility is eighth E|Solutions facility
Nov. 6, 2001 -- Sprint Corp. has opened its new 150,000
square foot E|Solutions Center in the Denver area, giving the
company eight operational data center facilities.
The Colorado
facility joins operational Sprint E|Solutions Internet Centers
in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Kansas City, New York City, Reston,
Va. and Sacramento, Calif. Openings are planned later this year
for centers in Los Angeles and Silicon Valley.
In addition
to offering managed hosting and collocation services, Sprint said
the facility in Adams County offers customers a central "point-of-business"
for obtaining complete solutions to their unique business needs.
The Sprint
facility joins an already crowded market for data centers in the
Denver metro area, which serves as home base to Level 3, Qwest,
Inflow, Relera and Verado. In September, newcomer @Lightspeed
opened a 225,000 square foot data center outside Denver.
In announcing
the new facility, Sprint sought to differentiate itself from its
competitors.
"There
is a misconception that all data centers are created alike," said
Keith Paglusch, president of Sprint E|Solutions. "Our Internet
Centers - Sprint's unique next-generation data centers - give
customers a new level of value beyond colocation and hosting."
Sprint
is a global communications company serving 23 million business
and residential customers in more than 70 countries. The company
has more than 80,000 employees worldwide and $23 billion in annual
revenues.
