Pihana
Opens LA Facility
May 30, 2001 -- Pihana Pacific, an Internet data center
operator targeting the Asia/Pacific market, today announced it
has opened a data center in Los Angeles.
Pihana
said the 66,000 square foot facility will serve as a communication
bridge between Asia/Pacific and North America. The new data center
is interconnected to the One Wilshire carrier hotel.
"Our
L.A. facility is a cornerstone to our business strategy,"
said Richard Kalbrener, president and CEO of Pihana Pacific. "It
provides the major market U.S. presence key to our regional footprint.''
Among
the customers already signed up for the new Los Angeles center
are Level 3, Cogent, Broadband Highway, Myrient, Looking Glass,
GCS, QoS and Colopro.com.
Pihana's
carrier-neutral data centers in Seoul, Hong Kong and Sydney will
open next month, completing the company's footprint in Asia/Pacific.
Other centers are in Tokyo, Taipei and San Francisco
Founded
in January 2000, Pihana Pacific
has raised $236 million to build neutral Internet data centers
in the Asia/Pacific region. Its investors include Goldman Sachs,
Morgan Stanley Dean Witter Private Equity, LoneTree Capital, UBS
Capital and GE Capital Telecom.
