  • Mar. 31, 2003 -- Data center services provider Collocation Solutions today said it it will provide infrastructure services to PULSE EFT Association, the nation's largest financial institution-owned electronic funds transfer network.
PULSE serves more than 3,800 bank, credit union and savings bank members across the country. The network links an estimated 80 million cardholders with more than 700,000 ATMs and retail locations nationwide, and is the only major network solely owned by financial institutions.
A PULSE official said the decision to outsource this secondary data center was based on the Dallas provider's ability to swiftly provide a cost effective solution.
"PULSE requires instantaneous fail-over to a duplicate system,"said Warren Coles, PULSE executive vice president of Operations. "As such PULSE is building a 'secondary' production site within Collocation Solutions' data center in Dallas. Pulse's service commitment to its financial institution members requires that we have dual processing capability, and Collocation Solutions has the resources, expertise and proven track record of success with large corporate installations."
He noted that PULSE will be migrating the processing of ATM and point-of-sale (POs) transactions to a new shared environment. The primary switch will reside in Houston and the secondary data center will be in Dallas. Both sites will be operational by November.
"Collocation Solutions has been very responsive to our aggressive timelines and has been a key resource in both planning and preparations for our new switch," Coles said.
"At Collocation Solutions, we understand a customer's insistence on the highest quality service as a priority in their decision to outsource," Jim deVenny, president and chief executive officer of Collocation Solution. "We have the experience large corporate users are looking for and our unique model is very attractive to their IT staffs."

Dallas-based Collocation Solutions is an Internet infrastructure provider helping clients meet their carrier-neutral collocation and outsourced data center needs, including disaster recovery hot site solutions.
