3 Expands in Princeton, Pittsburgh
March 27, 2001 -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. has opened
new data centers offering Internet and communications services
in Pittsburgh, Pa. and Princeton, N.J., the company said Monday.
Level
3 now operates 68 of its Gateway data centers in 65 markets; 54
markets in the U.S., nine in Europe and two in Asia.

"The Gateway facilities in these important markets provide
an on-ramp to the Level 3 Network, which is unlike any communications
backbone ever built," said Carlos Lopez-Abadia, senior vice president
of Global Gateway Services for Level 3.
The
new facilities serve as portals to the Level 3 Network and provide
a secure environment in which customers can physically locate
their equipment. The facilities also house Level 3's own equipment
and offer customers interconnection with the public Internet and
other long distance networks.
Level
3 is a global communications and information services company
offering a wide selection of services including IP services, broadband
transport, colocation services and the industry's first Softswitch
based services.
