Node
Com Launches Data Center Exchange
Web
site serves as confidential marketplace for Internet facilities
July 19, 2001 -- Node Com Inc. today launched Data
Center Exchange, a new web site to help developers of Internet
data centers locate buyers and tenants.
The
new site is positioning itself as an online matchmaker in the
rapidly-consolidating data center business, in which many developers
are seeking tenants to fill vacant space, and some cash-strapped
companies are selling properties.

As a confidential marketplace, Data Center Exchange provides
an affordable way to market properties and space, according to
Node Com President Joseph Suppers.
"The ongoing consolidation in the data center industry is
creating both challenges and opportunities," said Suppers.
"Owners need to recover their investments and begin filling
their buildings and collecting rent, and quickly.
"At
the same time, investors and tenants are looking for deals that
can position them for future growth," Suppers added. "Data
Center Exchange brings these parties together."
Princeton,
N.J.-based Node Com provides
telecom services ranging from site location to construction management.
Node Com is a business affiliate of Carrier Hotels Inc., which
operates the CarrierHotels.com
web site.
Users
of Data Center Exchange can log into an online database and enter
information about their facilities. All contact information remains
unpublished, available only to Node Com. Potential buyers and
tenants can search the database, and then contact Node Com with
inquiries about specific facilities.
There is no charge for listing facilities or searching the listings.
If a sale or lease occurs, Node Com receives a fee for its services.
Data center owners and operators can manage their own listings
through the web interface, while browsers can search facilities
by city, square footage, fiber providers and numerous other criteria.
Data
Center Exchange expands on the model of The
Equipment Marketplace, a section of CarrierHotels.com where
data center operators are marketing surplus equipment. The marketplace
currently includes listings for more than $10 million in equipment.
The new
venture is the third industry website launched by Node Com and
its affiliates in the past 12 months, following the August, 2000
debut of CarrierHotels.com and the February launch of Colocation
Guide, a lead generation service for colocation providers
and end users.
As the
telecom sector has experienced a historic slump, Node Com has
been expanding and diversifying.
In the
past year, the seven-year old telecom site location company has
purchased a carrier hotel in West Palm Beach, Fla. and expanded
into colocation services and construction management. Node Com
now has offices in Princeton, New York, Tampa, Miami, West Palm
Beach and Birmingham, Ala.
