Equinix
Opens Seventh Data Center
New 200,000 s.f. Secaucus facility expands presence in NYC market
Jan. 29, 2002 -- Bucking industry trends, Equinix, Inc.
today announced that it has opened a large new data center in
Secaucus, N.J.
The
200,000 square foot facility is the company's seventh Internet
Business Exchange (IBX) facility, and completes Equinix's network
buildout. An existing IBX center in nearby Newark is nearly full.

The announcement caps a month in which Equinix has announced
three significant new customers. The company has inked deals with
France Telecom, the Hines real estate empire, and Big Pipe, the
fiber backbone division of Canadian broadband leader Shaw Communications.
The
Secaucus IBX center will offer network hookups with AT&T, WorldCom
and Verizon, and expands Equinix' offerings in the New York metro
market.
"We expect the Secaucus IBX center to become a core hub for
Internet operations,'' said Peter Van Camp, chairman and CEO of
Equinix. "Since opening our Newark IBX center in 2000, Equinix
has experienced solid demand for strategic Internet exchange services
as companies seek to leverage the reliability, scalability and
cost benefits of Equinix services."
The
new center brings Equinix's total footprint to over 800,000 square
feet nationwide, and completes the company's fully-funded IBX
build-out plan. In addition to its two New Jersey facilities,
Equinix operates IBX centers in the Washington, D.C., Silicon
Valley, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas areas.
