Verio Opens
Portland Data Center
Jan. 17, 2001 -- Verio Inc. announced today the opening
of a new 30,000-square-foot advanced data center in Portland,
Ore. as it continues to expand its network.
The
company, a subsidiary of NTT Communications, said it currently
plans to construct and open additional data centers in Dallas,
Chicago, San Jose, Newark, Denver and New York City.
With the Portland launch, Verio extends its strong presence in
the Northwest, including data centers in Seattle and Bellevue,
Wash. In addition, a new data center is being constructed in the
Seattle area. The company currently employs nearly 90 people in
the area.
"With the boom in virtual services occurring across the country,
Verio continues to provide businesses with the most effective
Web-hosting solutions to give them a competitive edge,'' said
Justin Jaschke, Verio chief executive officer. "As customer
demand increases for data centers, we will meet those needs with
advanced data center facilities like Portland's, which allows
customers to streamline their hosting operations and eliminate
the need to integrate multiple vendors, tasks and platforms.''
Verio will offer customers
a range of managed services needed to run their online business
effectively. Verio Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTT Communications
(NTT Com), which provides long distance international telecommunications
reaching over 200 countries worldwide.
