Invests In Relera
Jan. 18, 2001 -- Hosting industry giant Exodus Communications
has made a $3 million investment in Relera, a start-up building
data centers in 25 cities where Exodus has no presence.
The
two companies "intend to explore opportunities to leverage
each others' strengths to deliver enhanced services in their respective
markets," Exodus and Relera said in a press release
"We are pleased to invest in Relera,'' said Ellen M. Hancock,
chairman and CEO of Exodus. "Exodus' world-class infrastructure
and services will enhance Relera's ability to offer best-of-breed
Web hosting solutions to its customers and presents Exodus with
the opportunity to collaborate to offer services in markets where
we don't plan to build facilities in the near future.''
"Our
presence in 25 U.S. markets, combined with Exodus' industry leadership,
will provide tremendous value to customers as they grow their
businesses,'' said Eric Hood, chief executive officer of RELERA.
"Customers will certainly benefit from the combined expertise
and resources this collaboration has to offer.''
Founded in January 2000 and backed by more than $300 million in
equity financing, Relera is
building nearly 1 million square feet of data center space in
25 of the top 40 U.S. markets. The company has headquarters in
Denver and San Diego.
Exodus is a leading provider
of complex Internet hosting for enterprises with mission-critical
Internet operations. Exodus manages its network infrastructure
