Jan. 10, 2000 -- Chicago-area developer InSite Real Estate
Development this week announced the acquisition and development
of the El Paso Information Technology Center.
The
120,000 square foot building, located at 500 W. Overland in downtown
El Paso, is being renovated to house multiple Web hosting, colocation,
Internet, and telecommunications service providers. InSite said
it expects its first tenants to occupy the center in the first
quarter of 2001.
Originally constructed as a textile manufacturing facility, the
building's structural components include 200-plus pounds. floor
loading and 30,000 to 50,000 square foot floor plates.
"We expect the significant amount of long-haul fiber passing through
El Paso and a location less than a quarter-mile from the main
U.S. port of entry into Mexico will provide significant demand
for telecommunication infrastructure in the El Paso market,"
said Dan Shannon of InSite.
Located across the street from Williams Communications
POP, multiple providers have fiber running adjacent to the building,
including SBC (ILEC), espire, and AT&T. The Global Technology
Group of CB Richard Ellis and InterAmerica Property Company are
handling leasing for the facility.
InSite Real Estate
Development, LLC is based in Oak Brook, Ill. and has developed
nearly 400 office, industrial and retail properties located in
