Rockefeller Targets Santa Ana for Carrier Hotel

By Rich Miller
CarrierHotels News Staff

Feb. 8, 2001 -- Rockefeller Group Development Corporation and Valencia Commercial Properties, Inc. will convert a 360,000 square foot warehouse property in Santa Ana, Calif. into a carrier hotel and data center.
The companies have formed a joint venture to convert the industrial building, located in the Irvine Business Complex at 2001 East Dyer Road. The project will be headed by California developer Jerry Valencia, formerly with Level 3 Communications and MFS WorldCom.
Valencia will oversee the onsite development and then manage the property, which is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2001.
"We're fortunate to be able to enter this market in partnership with someone of Jerry's experience in the telecommunications industry,'' said Jonathan D. Green, president and CEO of Rockefeller Group Development Corporation.
"Our carrier hotel and data center provides a fully secured, neutral space with heavy electrical power and connectivity to major fiber optic carriers," said Valencia.
Cushman & Wakefield, under the direction of Gordon Henry, will serve as the exclusive broker for the project.
Rockefeller Group Development Corporation is a national owner, developer and manager of prestigious commercial real estate properties.
