Completes Five City Network
New York/New Jersey metro hookups are launched
Dec. 5, 2001 -- Interconnection provider Sigma Networks,
Inc. has completed its planned network buildout with the launch
of service in New York City and northern New Jersey, the company
said today.
The well-heeled San Jose, Calif.-based startup has a presence
in nine carrier hotels and data centers in the metro New York
market, offering high-speed connections to carriers and other
bandwidth-intensive businesses.

Launched in February with more than $400 million in financial
backing, its founders include former FCC Chairman Reed Hundt,
Benchmark Capital Partner Andy Rachleff, and Concentric Network
cofounder John Peters.
The company has focused on "smart building" in creating
its network, according to CEO Peters
"Smart building means we've been carefully using our resources
to deploy truly targeted metro optical networks to explicitly
meet the interconnectivity needs of our carrier and service provider
customers,'' said Peters. "As a company, we're 100% focused
on providing carriers and service providers with a fast, cost-efficient
way to meet and beat metro connectivity challenges.''
According to Sigma, the New York/New Jersey network will include

Sigma Networks
provides interconnections to carrier hotels, colocation centers,
data centers, and other data "sources and sinks" in
five key metro markets.
