Dec. 6, 2000 -- -Tripp Lite, a manufacturer of power protection
equipment, said Monday it is opening a 500,000-square-foot section
of its Chicago headquarters building to provide colocation services.
The company said it is eyeing corporations, ISPs and telecom carriers
as potential tenants for The Tripp Lite Technology Center, a 1
million square foot building at 1111 W. 35th Street that the firm
owns and occupies.
The
newly-renovated computer and data-storage facility is available
for immediate build-out from an existing, fully-operational infrastructure,
which includes fiber optic and T-1 cabling as well as heat, electric,
phone and elevator systems.
Recent renovations include completely outfitted office
facilities for pooled or dedicated use. Tripp Lite said two local
power plants serve the computer and data-storage facility, which
is located in a heavy-distribution grid in a former heavy-industry
area.
Tripp
Lite offers business power services ranging from total turn-key
solutions to complete tenant build-out.
