Dec. 4, 2000 -- ConnectSouth, a provider of high-speed
connectivity and Internet business tools, said today that it would
begin to offer colocation services, calling them "a critical
piece" of the company's strategy.
Connect
South, which targets small and medium-sized businesses in the
South, said colocation space in its Austin, Texas data center
is available immediately. The company plans to add six additional
colocation centers by the end of the first quarter of 2001, located
in Charlotte, N.C.; New Orleans; Kansas City; Oklahoma City, Memphis
and Birmingham, Ala.
"ConnectSouth
is committed to providing our customers with a complete suite
of e-enabling products and services,'' said Jeff Mucci, CEO of
ConnectSouth. ``By ConnectSouth adding colocation to our customer
offerings, we allow small to medium sized businesses to have access
to state-of-the-art Internet ready facilities, that were once
only reserved for very large companies.''
In addition to basic colocation, ConnectSouth will offer
customers a suite of managed services, including high-speed Internet
access, VPNs, firewall management, e-commerce and data backup
and storage.
ConnectSouth
Communications, Inc., headquartered in Austin, Texas, is an
``e-enabler,'' providing a full range of high-speed connectivity
and Internet business application tools for small and medium-sized
businesses in the Southern Region of the United States.
