THE PLANET LAUNCHES THE WORLD'S MOST AFFORDABLE DISK-TO-DISK OFFSITE BACKUP SYSTEM.

Dallas, TX - The Planet recently unveiled DiskSyncSM, a new affordable automated offsite backup system.

DiskSync is a completely automated disk-to-disk data recovery and protection solution that allows customers to securely backup their data to a remote server over an existing network connection - virtually eliminating the need for manual intervention that comes with traditional tape backup systems, including physically labeling, boxing, shipping (and/or rotating) and tracking tape media.

"This innovative system provides a high level of data protection at a fraction of the cost customers have come to expect from other providers," said Lance Crosby, Chief Operating Officer of The Planet. "With DiskSync, we offer disk-to-disk backup plans at an average cost of just $2 per gigabyte. Similar backup solutions from our competitors can cost $20 per gigabyte or more."

According to Mr. Crosby, the solution also provides significant benefits in terms of storage capacity. "With DiskSync's compression ratios exceeding 50 percent for many types of data, customers can often receive twice the storage capacity that their plan provides," Crosby said. DiscSync data is stored offsite on an EMC CX700 Storage Array, housed at Equinix, which offers 70TB of storage. It is the largest EMC CX700 Clariion ever deployed.

Customers can track their disk usage via The Planet's proprietary Web portal, ORBITSM, and can choose from several affordable plans.

DiskSync is available across all of The Planet’s server platforms, including Total Control, ServerMatrix, Enterprise and co-location.
